Planning Center News

New Additions to Mobile Site

IMG_0146

We have yet another exciting release, and this one is in the world of mobile phones. Last night we released an update that allows you to perform certain tasks on the mobile version of your phone (including iPhone, Android, and Pre). You now have the capability to schedule people and email those that are scheduled. This also paves the way for our new official Planning Center Online iPhone App that released today! The official app is a streamlined version of the updated mobile interface that runs more smoothly and remembers your password.

IMG_0147We apologize to our Blackberry users, but because the Blackeberry’s internet browser is not built on WebKit (like iPhone, Android & Pre), it is much more difficult to program and as a result, the Blackberry will still be read-only. Though our Blackberry users are very important to us, we discovered that only 2% of our mobile users use the Blackberry, but don’t worry- we aren’t giving up! We are continuing to find ways to improve the use of PCO on your Blackberry so stay tuned for any break-throughs and updates we may have in the future.

Right on. Thanks for making efforts to continually keep up and ahead of most places with technology. You’re making my life much easier and for that, my wife is thankful!

Would love to see in a future update the ability to assign a song from the iPhone. I found myself this past week wanting to schedule but needing to wait till I got to my laptop.

Thanks again for your team’s hard work to keep church running smooth through the help of technology!

It would be amazing if we could listen to the MP3 attachments from our iphones, but that seems to be a problem. Maybe I’m not utilizing the site right, but the site seems to want MP3′s for the music attachments, but the iphone runs off of M4A’s. The iphone app recognizes the M4A’s but can’t seem to open them, and doesn’t even recognize the MP3 attachments. Since my iphone is an ipod and can play music, that would be really helpfu!

But great to even have the app!

Just read the other day that RIM purchased a company developing a WebKit browser for the BB. So, us BB users have hope of real internet one day. :)

AWESOME!!!

Two requests…

1. when you select and item in the flow and it shows those notes, being able to just scroll down on the screen through the items in the flow with the notes details there vs having to go back to the flow, then into each item to see the notes. We have categorized notes in each item like Lead, Audio, Video, Lighting etc. If this were possible this could almost replace most of our paper flows.

2. Being able to access stage layouts to view. Again this could help eliminate some paper and help stage managers and crew have quick access to set a stage or do a transition between services.

THANKS!

David

Great work on this update. Your engineers make a solid product.

The church of the future: when you become a member of our church, you get an iPod Touch. It comes pre-loaded with the following Apps: iBulletin, PCO, Bible App by LifeChurch.tv, iCal synced to the church calendar, Mint to track your giving, iLighter (for the slow songs), and 300 Flashlight Apps to “remind you of the Way” during the week!

So I have a 1st Gen iPod Touch with 2.2 software on it. When I tried to download the app I was told that it is only compatible with 3.0. Any ideas??? Any love for for a 1st Gen user?

I don’t know. I’m a little put out that you won’t make up an app just for BlackBerry guys like myself. I won’t be bullied into using AT&T!!! Just kidding. Your constant tweaks and improvements more than make up for the fact that I have to go “all the way over to my computer” to do stuff insteading of using my favorite handheld device. Keep up the fine work. Your site has revolutionized our ministry and I’m very, very pleased.

Another huge chunk of awesomeness uploaded for us! Great job, guys. Now, if we could only set up a song list from the iPhone, life would be perfect…

I think there needs to be a way to go live from the app…

Hey looks good but no way to confirm or reject through the app seems kind of a big missing item. If I am mobile and get a email I want to be able to login and accept, reject or change my status or schedule online. Don’t you think? For example I went and looked and saw I’m unconfirmed scheduled for Sept 19th weekend but I will be in Memphis doing soccer. I can’t do anything about it in the app…:-(

Thanks for developing this app! It’s nice to have the site optimized for the iphone.
It would be great if we could access the mp3 attachments thru the plan section. When I go into the plan section for this week the mp3 attachment doesn’t show up. Only the word docs are there.
Keep up the good work.

Fantastic app!! So nice to be able to access my schedule from my iPhone. Being able to listen to the songs would be great (as mentioned above), and I have yet to be able to pull up a song .pdf file on my phone. I get to the default arrangement, and that’s as far as it goes. Keep up the good work, and I’m looking forward to the enhancements!!!

Add me to the Windows Mobile list.

One note- I probably won’t add many mobile hits to your windows mobile stats, because I don’t need to view plans very often, but if there were editing functionality, us Windows folks would light it up! Right guys?

+1 for Windows Mobile!

Reply
Tim #permalink

Yes, we need a Windows Mobile app!

And specifically, I’d like to get notified of changes to the schedule (title changes, series changes, time changes, etc.) and be able to get title list directly through such an app.

Thanks for all your hard work!
