Planning Center, now with Facebook Integration

We are very excited to introduce our newest feature, Facebook integration. For the past several months we have been learning about how to develop on top of the Facebook platform and thinking about the best way to do this integration. I am really happy with what we have come up with and I hope this helps your volunteers become more informed about when they will be serving. Let me go ahead and walk you through the integration process:

Install Planning Center Facebook Application

1.) Install the Planning CenterĀ Online Facebook App: You can install this by going to http://apps.facebook.com/planningcenter/ . We will shortly be adding a link to this from the Planning Center Online Dashboard & Schedule pages. Make sure you click “Allow”.

Facebook Planning Center Linking

2.) Enter In Your Login Information: Enter in your e-mail address and password and we will link all accounts with that information to your Facebook Account.

Planning Center Schedule On Facebook

3.) View Your Schedule: This will show you all the dates you have accepted or have pending plus all the times you are scheduled for. You can also accept and decline from within Facebook.

Facebook Planning Center Notifications

4.) Receive Facebook Notifications: Whenever you are scheduled to serve, a notification will appear to alert you.

Person Facebook

Bonus: On everyone’s Planning Center profile page a Facebook icon will appear on their record with a link to their Facebook profile. Also, when you are sending out scheduling e-mails you will see a Facebook Icon next to the people who have their Facebook accounts linked.

I can’t believe this day came so soon! Seriously, we have all students in our student worship bands and I have the hardest time getting them to check e-mails, but they are always popping up a chat with me on facebook. This is awesome and thanks so much for all the work you guys do!

Looks great – is there a way to access this from my profile once I’ve allowed it? Also, is there a way w/in facebook to invite my volunteers to install it?

This is awesome! Thanks for adding this feature!

I second Bethany, this is one app that NEEDS the “invite” feature! We have some of our members on facebook and I’d love to send them an invite to this app! :-D

Love this application – and THIRD Bethany’s suggestion!

Thanks for the work you are doing on our behalf!

You don’t even know! or maybe you do…

Using PC was already a huge help. Now that we can join PC to Facebook our communication with students is made far easier! Thanks a lot!

ummmmm….yes please!

Finally – a solution for my musos who seldom check their email but live on facebook. An invitation would be a nice touch.

Great idea!

I think that this is a great integration tool to have. We are building a younger group in our team who glance at the email and miss half the info. I think this will be a better communication tool. Thanks and keep up the good work.

Sincerely,
Pete

I hate to admit that I didn’t even see this coming! I mean yah, it’s way cool and for all the reasons already stated- seems like the up and comers don’t really use e-mail these days. Great Stuff! You guys just keep coming up with the hits, I really don’t see a need to look around for any possibly better worship planning tool- there just couldn’t be one out there. You guys are the best!

Installed the Planning Center Online Facebook App but never saw ALLOW button. So Ap appears on Facebook but none of the services i’m scheduled for show up.

Frank Hart #permalink

OK, this is potentially great, but I don’t see it showing up in my Facebook account. If I go directly to the app link … yes … but, if I just log into Facebook I don’t see anything. I can’t even find it. What am I missing?

This is only going to be helpful if it shows up in their Facebook account in such a way that they can not ignore it. Right now, I can’t even find it.

Help.

@dan & @frank Please try going to http://apps.facebook.com/planningcenter again. I think facebook was having some issues this morning. If that doesn’t work please logout of Facebook and back in and try again. If that does not work please e-mail support.

@frank We are actually pretty limited in how we can interact with people on Facebook. The app isn’t always visible, but when you schedule them they get a notification that will take them to the Facebook app so they can reply.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.

Thanks!
